Day V

Day VI

Making it work.
Anxious to get to work today. Yesterday I painted on a small page, 9" X 12". The result looked cramped. Today's work is 18 X 24, ahhh feels better!
I am still struggling with color mixing. Sometimes a color surprise is fun but not always.
I do like the terra cotta color that I mixed by accident. When I add my favorite bronze metallic on top it plays hide and seek. That makes me smile.
Better photo tomorrow : )

Day IV

Today I'll be out all day. I will do a make up painting to keep up!

Some days I am more successful than others. Tomorrow is another day : )

Day III

It's a gorgeous sunny day here. It is also 14 degrees!
There are beautiful ultramarine blue shadows!

Today's painting is about 28" X 22".  It is painted on arches watercolor paper.
I started it awhile ago and worked on it today.  I hesitate to say finished it today.

Day II

We are in the midst of a winter snow storm.
The snow is swirling wildly! It looks fabulous.

I enjoyed the ochery yellow of yesterday's painting so I began today with yellow.
I chose lemon yellow rather than continuing with the ochery yellow. My palette shifted wildly.
The lemon yellow lead me to one of my favorites, chartreuse green. It wouldn't be long before a rich purple would appear! Then down to earth with a warm gray.
In the background I hear    Mozart's String Quartet played by the Emerson String Quartet.
It doesn't get much better than this.

30 Paintings in 30 Days 2014 - Day I

Here we go....new year and new work.

I'm energized for the 30 painting challenge.

I'm working in acrylics on watercolor paper. The rough surface reminds me of canvas texture.
The color pigments respond differently than oil pigments. I can not predict the outcome as easily.
This first piece is 18 X 24 inches in size.
